Our resurrected Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd, claims to have recently changed his view of same-sex marriage, so that he now supports “marriage equality”, though he formerly voted against it.
However, because marriage, by definition, can only be a covenant between a man and a woman, “marriage equality” is really “marriage impossibility”.
Nevertheless, not long ago, Mr. Rudd said that his opposition to same-sex marriage had made him “an unreconstructed dinosaur” in the eyes of “the kids.”* Apparently, Mr. Rudd agrees with that view of his former self.
That must make everyone who opposes homosexual marriage an unreconstructed dinosaur, and “antediluvian”, in Mr. Rudd’s view – it makes us desperately old-fashioned and ignorant persons, in need of re-construction!Surely, we conservative Christians must move with the times! The Head of the Christian church is no longer Jesus Christ.Rather, the Head of the church is now the opinion of “kids”.Surely, we conservative Christians must abandon our “antediluvian” convictions regarding what is sin, in the light of the supposedly more perfect, recently-gained knowledge of human psychology and behaviour now held by kids.
But Kevin Rudd, and those who think like him, could not be more wrong! We conservative Christians, who believe that Jesus Christ is Lord of all, are not unreconstructed dinosaurs. We are not old-fashioned, but we are truth-fashioned!By the grace of God, we have been moulded and shaped by Biblical, divine truth.
In fact, we are the new creations who live in this sorry old world! We are the reconstructed, new-fashioned ones! Our Saviour said, in John 3:7, ”You must be born again”, and, by the grace of God, we have been. The apostle Paul declared, in 2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”
So, we followers of Jesus Christ are the new people! It is those, young or old, who have never been born again and who are still in darkness, who are the unreconstructed dinosaurs!
Some daringly and blasphemously claim that Jesus Christ Himself, in the so-called light cast by modern social and biological science, would believe differently, and teach us differently, than He believed and taught 2,000 years ago.
Yet, the Son of God, Himself, would have to change, if truth changes with the times, because He declared Himself in very essence to be “the Way, the Truth, and the Life”.So, if truth can change, Jesus can change. But Jesus Christ cannot change, because He is the Second Person of the Triune God, and God, who is perfect and complete in every way, never changes! Our Lord Himself declared, in Malachi 3:6, “I the LORD do not change.” Therefore, the truth which we have received from, through and in Jesus Christ never changes.
The great, historical contest of the Universe has always been between truth and falsehood.Because truth never changes, it is always new. Sadly, Mr. Rudd has accepted a lie as old as the buried ruins of Sodom, while thinking that he has done something new and progressive.
Mr. Rudd now believes that “marriage equality” may be treated as a matter for the state, and not for the church.Perhaps, unconsciously emphasising yet again what a deep thinker he considers himself to be, Mr. Rudd recently said, “I have come to the conclusion that church and state can have different positions and practices on the question of same-sex marriage. I believe the secular Australian state should be able to recognise same-sex marriage.”**
However, our Creator will surely judge the state for its wicked rebellion against His will regarding human sexuality, which He has made so plainly evident in the Scriptures, and in the way He has formed the bodies of male and female.Mr. Rudd, the homosexuals to whom he wants to give “marriage equality”, and we conservative Christians who oppose such a sinful permission, are all members of the Australian state. So, when God moves in judgement against our state, we shall all suffer. Therefore, “marriage equality” is not only a concern of the state; it is our grave concern, as well.We must not allow ourselves to be removed from the arena of debate by Mr. Rudd’s dull assertion that “marriage equality” may be only a concern of the state.
